The MPC Board Chairman is a man with good comprehension of the dynamics and trends in the economy and easily adapts to the changing landscape of the global financial systems.
Prior to his joining the Reserve Bank of Malawi and soon after graduating from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College in 1985, Mr. Mkulichi briefly worked with National Bank of Malawi from 1985 to 1989 as a Management Trainee.
He later joined the Reserve Bank of Malawi and worked for 27 years in various capacities such as Senior Bank Examiner, Assistant Division Chief, Principal Examiner, Chief Examiner, Director (Supervision of Non-Bank Financial Institutions), Director (Bank Supervision), and Director (Pension and Insurance Supervision) until his retirement in May 2017, Mr. Mkulichi brings to the MPC Board a wealth of diverse skills obtained from his long and illustrious carrier in the financial sector.
Mr. Mkulichi has a strong background in financial regulation seen through bank supervision, microfinance, financial cooperatives, capital markets, insurance and pension supervision while working with the Central Bank in Malawi.
Currently, Mr. Mkulichi is also serving in a number of Boards of companies including FDH Financial Holdings Limited, Cooperatives Life Insurance Company Limited, FINCA Malawi, Zamara Pensions Administrators Limited and African Trade Insurance Agency.
The MPC Board Chairperson holds a Masters’ Degree in Banking and Finance from University of Wales, UK and a Bachelor of Social Science from University of Malawi.
